  • a research and education integrator of the innovative territorial cluster of the Republic of Mordovia «Light Engineering and Optoelectronic Instrumentation» (Bright City) and the Republican industrial cluster «Fiber Optics and Optoelectronics»;

  • co-initiator of the consortium "Languages and Ethnogenomics of Finno-Ugric Peoples" together with the V. P. Ivannikov Institute of System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences;

  • member of the consortium «Radiophotonics» ;

There are 127 University-based research laboratories and centres equipped with specific international standard research equipment, including 3 resource sharing centres: "Materials science", "Light engineering metrology", "Electronic engineering and magnetophotonics". In order to commercialise the intellectual property, there are 17 small innovative enterprises i.e. university spin-offs.

  • Environmental testing laboratory launched in partnership with Russian research institute of aviation materials on the premises of G.V.Akimov Gelendzhik Center for environmental testing;

  • Laboratory of Optical Materials Technologies, established jointly with Prokhorov General Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences;

  • Science and Education Centre "Physics of modern, solid-state and fiber Lasers", created jointly with the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Nogrorod;

  • Technopark-based university-owned research laboratory «Synthesis and processing of SiC single crystals»;

  • The Joint International Laboratory LIA LICS on «Critical and supercritical phenomena in functional electronics, acoustics and fluidics»;

  • Interregional science center for Finno-Ugric studies.
